The cost of TAFIAS Tilapia Chips is 99php for a 70g box. That is more than 2usd.
What make these chips expensive then?
Well, I don't know.
What I know is that these chips are handmade product of TAFIAS (Talisay Fishermen's Association) located in Anda - a coastal place in the eastern part of Bohol. The place don't have much of a luxury. You'll need to climb up the hill to get a mobile reception. Slow-paced community. Don't have much source of income and just living on basics.
TAFIAS wants more for its people. They want to alleviate poverty, illiteracy and unemployment. Which sounds very noble. That is why they created products to sell and one of it is this Tilapia Chips.
Long before, they're selling Tilapia chips in this packaging:

Today, these Tilapia chips are now sold to selected stores and you can also order it online via their website - tafias.org. Have I mentioned that these chips are now world famous?
The 99php for a box of chips is really expensive if you gonna eat it for snacks but it will be less if you will give it as a gift. Give a man a fish now! It's just for 99.
Is it available among the major malls in downtown Tagbilaran?
ReplyDeleteJust received an update. It is sold in ICM now.
DeleteI think it's on the process now. The store that I know for now that sells this is Chocoreich cafe infront of BQ carpark.
ReplyDeleteAs of March 31, 2019, they stopped selling these chips already which was kinda disappointing since we went there just for that.
