Bohol's Most Expensive Chips - TAFIAS Tilapia Chips

Can you guess how expensive these chips are? It is expensive than your 85g Piattos and your 150g Pringles chips.

The cost of TAFIAS Tilapia Chips is 99php for a 70g box. That is more than 2usd.

What make these chips expensive then?

Well, I don't know.

What I know is that these chips are handmade product of TAFIAS (Talisay Fishermen's Association) located in Anda - a coastal place in the eastern part of Bohol. The place don't have much of a luxury. You'll need to climb up the hill to get a mobile reception. Slow-paced community. Don't have much source of income and just living on basics.

TAFIAS wants more for its people. They want to alleviate poverty, illiteracy and unemployment. Which sounds very noble. That is why they created products to sell and one of it is this Tilapia Chips.

Long before, they're selling Tilapia chips in this packaging:

Looks cheap and sold cheap. This doubles the cheapness and earned nothing. Enter these two guys:

Left: Robin Gurney - Marketing Expert and Director of Andakidz foundation
Right: Janno Siimar - Branding Expert and Creative Director of Velvet.ee
They helped TAFIAS to further developed their product. And after 3 months of unpaid work and pure-hearted endeavor they launched the most expensive chips in Bohol last March 18, 2015 at Bohol Cultural Center.

Today, these Tilapia chips are now sold to selected stores and you can also order it online via their website - tafias.org. Have I mentioned that these chips are now world famous?

The 99php for a box of chips is really expensive if you gonna eat it for snacks but it will be less if you will give it as a gift. Give a man a fish now! It's just for 99.
